Inspired to Watercolour this week

I found myself all over the place this week (my head) and although I made a few cards, I really wanted to break out the watercolour paints. As I have mentioned in previous posts I will often use my painted papers in my cards.  The 'mistakes' often find themselves making an appearance wishing someone a 'happy birthday' or 'get well soon'. :)
Here are my recent paintings.

What can I say? I love Klimt.

North of Tobermory
From a photo I took last summer. Yes, I was looking at my Group of Seven book on the deck shortly before I started this one.

Chagall RSVP'd

I was looking at some photos I took while at the Marc Chagall museum in the south of France. This is my take on one of his favourite themes, The Jewish Wedding.

Blog Challenge by Turned Gypsy

This challenge is being hosted by Christ Wooten on her wonderful blog, Turned Gypsy who I met on a wonderful new crafters social network called CreatingTheHive.

The Challenge -  Create a card with dots, stripes, ribbon and buttons.

Here is my card:

Dots and stripes and buttons and ribbons, Oh MY!
The card is embossed with white dots. I used microdot and large dot ribbons at the base of the card.
I used a large square epoxy brad from SCRAPabilities, It was lots of fun to make.

I would love to hear your comments!

Attention Ex-Gamblers! Chuck those chips and put in your Punches!

Poker and Punches don't Mix!!!
Re-purposing Items Part Deux (2)

So, after my 'sushi boat discovery'...

I really wanted a carousel to store my pens and punches and scissors but couldn't justify the ridiculous costs.
Just ignore Dr. Oz....
The second discovery came when I was clearing out shelves to make room for more supplies and I found 2, heavy-duty, wood, poker chip carousels.  I saw all those lovely holes, the swivel and the handle, and I thought, "Hmmmm...".

Take out the stacks of chips and decks of cards, apply a pretty paper around the perimeter to 'seal' the openings, and voila!
if I take out all the chips.....".  Well, lo and behold it was perfect except for the side opening in each hole.  There are 10 slots.  No problem; get some nice paper ( I used extra drawer liner I picked up real cheap) and now it's perfect, AND it spins, AND it has a handle.  I found the second one and now I am very happy. :)

Worth Repeating -- when Sushi met Sally :)

Reorganizing my craft room (again) I remembered this post and it got me thinking about all the wonderful ideas we come up with when we're trying to be money-conscious, inventive and need to solve a problem.

My first re-purposing of an item were these sushi containers.  We enjoyed our sushi before dinner, and as I started to rinse out the containers, I thought, "Hey! I have an idea!".  I am very pleased with myself :)

I realized that my sushi container made the perfect storage container for my stamps.

They also come with a domed lid which still closes, even with the stamps inside.
I'm very pleased with this discovery :)

It is staggered and allows me to easily see all my stamps.  I purchased several 'meals' and now have 3 boats-- perhaps I'll start my own fleet.

Stay tuned for part 2 of this adventure ----
