Stickles and Stones may break some bones.............

Once again, I must thank Tiffany Windsor who inspired this project.  Thanks Tiffany!
You can also buy the Sakura 3D Lacquer from her shop!

My new best friend comes in many colours. Stickles are my 'buddy du jour' and I kept the bottles out all day.  You won't believe what I did with it.

First of all I used them to help decorate some stones. Just about everything went into decorating those stones: nail polish,3D Lacquer, Stickles, Decocolor Markers, Telephone Wire, silver wire and Adirondack Copper Fixative.

There are about 4 layers applied to this piece.  I started with writing with the Decocolor Markers - which are fabulous and dry very quickly,
Next, a layer of Sakura's 3D Lacquer. Once dry, some more markers.and another layer of lacquer. Then I applied little, cut pieces of coloured telephone wire, Stickles, and followed with another layer of lacquer.
The 3D affect is beautiful.  Once curred, I will either silver wire wrap it for a pendant, or attach it to a piece of metal and create an embellishment to top off a wood gift box I'm working on.

Why am I showing a ring???  Because Stickles came to the rescue!

Stickles to the rescue!  I love this ring that we bought on a cruise. 3 of the side facets of flat opals fell out, leaving ugly black spaces where they once shone. It's a beautiful tanzanite and diamond ring, but was unwearable with the missing pieces.
While working with my beloved Stickles I discovered that the green and aqua Stickles closely resembled the colours of the missing opals. It's a little more shiny than the actual opal, so I am going to add a thin layer of matte 'gloss'.  I am very happy with the results and that I can wear my ring again!

To be honest, I know my mom, if she were here, would plutz if she saw that I added glitter glue to that ring! :)

Happy Crafting!

Oh yes! That's what Spring looks like!

On a miserable, snowy day in Richmond Hill it is nice to be reminded how beautiful NO SNOW is! :)

A nice surprise for a certain Texan....

As promised, I drew for another winner in my Blog 'Follow Me' Giveaway, and I am happy to announce that the winner is

Lee Steele

Congratulations Lee!

A little about our winner:             Lee Steele joined the local circus in Michigan when she was 12. After travelling the American landscape for 6 years she decided she wanted to live in Alaska.  Life in Alaska was hard, but being an expert marksman, Lee was able to clothe and feed herself for 6 months.  The cold weather began to get to our little wilderness woman, so she headed to Texas to warm her tush.  Lee now spends her days playing 3 card monte on street corners and hustling her homemade knitted golf putter covers in her spare time.

Lee and I have become friends through TheHive and we enjoy challenging eachother.
Thank you again to everyone else for joining me here and I hope to have another nice blog candy to give away very soon.

Lee please contact me through TheHive with your mailing address.
Thanks!!!

Texture Magic works its Magic --more tags/ornaments

Love this stuff. Texture Magic is so versatile. You can spread it thin, glop it on, and just have lots of fun with it.  Technically it is a paint, but it's a paint you can use like an adhesive, too.  While the Texture Magic is still wet you can apply sparkles and implant gems or other embellishments.  I even splattered some around the tree to simulate snow.

The back side of a counter top sample.  Working on this side means you don't have to do anything  to the other side to finish it.
I put a glop of Texture Magic in the middle of the stencil

Shmeer the glop around, filling in the area of the stencil.  If you want it 'more textured' pounce your finger around. Carefully lift off the stencil and wipe it off the excess liquid.

What are YOU going to create?

Latest discovery -- Faux Enamel!

Open holiday tags and fiskars_01.JPGWhilst continuing my love affair with counter top samples from Home Depot, I discovered this wonderful technique.  It is not what I had set out to do, but I was very happy with the results!  How was this accomplished?  I started with painting the 'wrong' side of the sample with acrylic paint.  I stamped the trees and then dabbed dots of Stickles and glitter glue where the leaves would be.  Once it had thoroughly dried, I applied a layer of 3D Laquer. The trunks were highlighted with green Stickles.  The top 'drops' were created with the 3D Laquer and highlighted with Adirondack Mixatives in Copper.
Just add a ribbon, wire or yarn and you have a tag/ornament.
