Fave Quotes Friday

"But aren't many gardens beautiful because they are imperfect?...aren't the strange, new flowers that arise by mistake or misadventure as pleasing as the well-tended and planned?"

ON the Web Tonight - May 5th --- Robi@Nite!

Hi everyone! It's been a VERY hectic week and I am ready to rock n roll tonight with a great episode of ROBI@NITE!

Starting at 11:30 pm EST (click the above link to take you there), We will spend an hour (well, a 'robi hour' can be one and one half hours some times, but tonight we should be able to come in on time) together.

As some of you already know, Saturday May 7th is National Scrapbooking Day and there are many wonderful activities taking place all over -- in community halls, home and ON LINE, of course.
Creative EdVentures is having our very own 1st Annual Come2Crop from 7 pm EST until 1 a.m in the Creative EdVentures room.

Come to my show tonight and I can fill you in on the details and answer more questions.  I also know what some of the giveaways are!

I will be demoing a wonderful 'last minute' Mother's Day gift, which can be made for under $10 and look like $50!

I also want to share what I have been learning recently about old and rare books, and how to use them in your crafting -- with and without destroying the heck out of them!

Please come and join me!

I am an International TV Star (sort of)

I bet you didn't know that! Well, neither did I, but after being one of the very lucky 'chosen few' and appearing on Colin and Justin's Home Heist 2 years ago, people from all of the world have seen our episode.  This week it is showing on Friday in Australia, see  http://www.lifestyle.com.au/tv/colin-and-justins-home-heist/upcoming-episodes.aspx.  Our episode was affectionately named 'Lost in Space'.
Colin, Justin and Roberta performing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' -- what a hoot!

Deb and Justin enjoying a yuk!
Deb, Phil and The Boys - After the Reveal!

So, for those of you who didn't know me 'back then', I am giving you the opportunity to see what happened to us, laugh at my expense,  and just know that I love everything they did.  We haven't changed a thing.  I know to many of you our main hallway looks like flora on steroids, but trust me, in person it is fantastic (at least I think so).

Over the years there have been very interesting comments left for us.  We haven't deleted any of them -- even the 'less than kind' ones, because 'that's what makes horse racing'!
We had to stay in a hotel for 2 weeks while the show was in production. (even though they SAY it only takes a week from start to finish! shhhhhhhhhhhh!)

After - view from door in front foyer

After - View from middle of hallway

Ripping out the old tile to make way for the hardwood.

Lost in Space Part 1
Lost in Space Part 2
Lost in Space Part 3
Lost in Space Part 4
Lost in Space Part 5

Wordy Wednesday -- yes I know I'm a rebel

Tuesday Tickle, starring: my draw-test dummy!

Many of you met 'Tuesday' on Saturday:).   Tuesday is my 'draw-test dummy' and after a quick 'name the dummy' contest, Tuesday was chosen as the most appropriate name.  It really does fit; trust me!
Anyway,  here is what she's been up to since we last saw her in action;

Look at that form!
I think she's also preparing for a limbo contest:)
She's a little humble, but Tuesday did prove to be very helpful preparing taxes, being the TaxGuru she is:  She sat beside the Baby Wipes box, held my pencil and reviewed my receipts for me.

Tomorrow she just plans to sit around and whine about all that is plastic and artificial in her life...

Election Day in Canada - I am Proud

I was very proud to participate in our democratic process today.  Both my daughter and I worked in the Polls (unfortunately not together)to help ensure our beloved country had a fair and inclusive election.  To see the look on the young women and men's faces, many of whom were voting in their very first election, when they actually put THEIR vote into the ballot box -- well, it was a joyous event celebrated over and over.  A lot of these' children', children of immigrants who are now citizens, KNOW what it means to have the right to vote.  Their parents are only too willing to share stories from 'back home' about abuses and injustices concerning 'fair elections'.
Often entire families entered the polling station ensemble;together; united; and very, very proud.
It wasn't something taken for granted, it was a precious right to be cherished and exercised.

It was a very long day.  I didn't sleep the night before and had to be at my polling station for 8:30 am.  We were not allowed breaks, because unless 2 officials were at a polling station, NO one could vote there.  So, my poll partner and I  slipped out quickly, individually, when we 'had' to, and immediately returned to our seats. At no time is the polling station allowed to be unattended.
Anyway -- I finally rolled out of there at 11 pm.
It was a long day, for sure, but I loved every minute:)
