Robi@Nite is going on hiatus for the summer.  I will return in September with brand new shows and a whole new round of "So, What Would You Do With This"?

Canadian Art Night In the Zone

In the Zone - Canadian Art - June 27th, 2011

So many wonderful artists, such a huge country and  so little time...

My focus was on The Group of Seven because they are best known for their great Canadian landscapes.  They were strongly influenced by the French Impressionism of the late 1800's and this is evident is works like

The Group of Seven included Franklin Carmichael, Lawren Harris, A.Y. Jackson, Franz Johnston, Arthur Lismer, J.E.J. MacDonald, and Frederick Varley.

They spent most of their time in Ontario, but did travel to Quebec, Nova Scotia, and the Arctic.  They were the first non-native artists to depict the Arctic.

My first demo was influenced by the beautiful landscapes of these painters and the beautiful watercolours.

 I used an accordion fold on my cardstock and staggered the images.  I painted on 140 lb cold press paper and used Winsor Newton paints.  To see how I made the folds, watch the show!

And then, influenced by the works of art: Mirror Lake and Maligne Lake, we made our own Mirror Lake

Using OPI Nicole Nail Polish Sticks, I showed how to do a 'quickie' mirror lake.
