Recycle/Upcycle Blog Hop

Duct tape sure has come a long way!
Hi there and happy Friday everyone! I have many recycled/upcycled projects that I love and decided to feature this passport I made for my show in the FaveCrafts November blog hop.  If you wouldn't mind clicking on the button below, and then clicking 'like' below my Passport to Recycleville, I  would appreciate it.  Also check out my GF Cyn Gagen's Santa project while you are there!

Inside the passport holder. 3 pockets.
The following items were used to make this project:
Cardboard for base
Fancy duct tape - tie dye and tulip patterns
Aleene's Tacky Glue Stick
Stamp motif gift wrap paper
Foreign currency coins
PdQ chip shapes Love Bug
Index cards for pockets
Maps from Car Map books
Cuttlebug

Clear tape with a print

You could actually make this entire project without any glue. By using a clear tape with a faint design you can seal all your papers in place and effectively wrap the entire holder.  Just remember when you seal the inside pockets that you do NOT seal the top of the pocket.
Conversely you could just use Liquitex to seal everything in. You would then have to deal with drying time and several coats to seal everything.  In my opinion it's better using the duct tape and much quicker:)
I hope you enjoyed what I made today.
If you did, please let me know. Thank you, Robi

Addicted-to-Stamps Weekly Digi Release - What did I use?

This week I chose a beautiful image from Mitzi Sato-Wiuff; Viridisincendia Digi Doodle Download Stamp which you can find here: Addicted-to-Stamps

YOU SHOULD KNOW: Once I finished colouring my image I sealed it with a fixative before adding Glossy Accents or any other materials. That way I could proceed with all my enhancements with no worry to ruin or smudge ink, paint or chalk.

I used Glossy Accents to emphasize the colour and interest. Using my blow dryer really helped speed up the drying time. The 'silver' is Silver coloured Bic markers.

Adding crystal embellishments also helped enhance the look I was trying to achieve.

One of my main objectives was to add dimension to this image.  I think I achieved it using watercolour, markers to shade, and Glossy Accents to add depth to the shade.  Everything is lying flat on this card; I did not use any pop dots.

The sentiment is a velum sheet from Colorbok - it was in a pad of stickers, paper and sentiments.
The ribbon is from a mini-scrapbooking kit I picked up AGES ago.
My Scotch Tape Glider provided all the adhesive.

Personally, I don't like the way I colour in faces when using markers or watercolours so I prefer to use chalk where I can achieve a beautifully blended result.

I printed the image onto a pastel-weight paper using my laser printer, and used the following supplies:
Staedtler Triplus Fineliners
Martha Stewart craft markers
Derwent Inktense Pencils
Loew-Cornell pencils
Marvy Twinklettes
Staedtler Karat Aquarell Watercolour Pencils
Zig Photo Twin markers
Gelly Roll pen
Decorator chalks
Glossy Accents
Crystal stickers

NATIONAL GIRLFRIEND and SISTER'S WEEK

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
I don't want to brag or make anyone jealous or anything, but I can still fit into the earrings I wore in high school.
National Girlfriend and Sister's Week
I am only as strong as the coffee I drink, the hairspray I use, and the friends I have.
To the cool women who have touched my life. Here's to you!

Fondly and Affectionately,

Roberta

Circle Journal

I am participating in my first circle journal with 12 other artists.  I'm under a kind of 'publication ban' - lol - by the group because we want to keep our creations under wraps until we see them when they arrive at our homes. For the uninitiated (like I was ) we each make a journal ( cover and inside pages). We each decorate our own covers and the first double-page spread.
For my journal I chose to use 90 lb cold press watercolour paper for the cover, and 200 lb

warm press paper for
the actual pages.  This paper is incredibly durable and I loved using it for this project.
I sealed the front cover with Mod Podge and Liquitex gel medium.

For the back inside cover I used decorative duct tape.

I am kind of sad sending my little journal off into the world and can't wait to get it back (maybe in about 6 months) when all the participating artists will have decorated 2 pages each and my journal will be a work of art from around the world ( yes, this is a truly International, Trans-continental endeavour.).

Thank you for stopping by!
