Desert Rose - paper flowers created with SCAL and Cricut

My experimentation continues!!! I now have a wonderful petal template that I also created with SCAL and cut out with my CricutWhat do you think?
I created the red flower first, using 3, 11 inch strips of petals.  I then wrapped the 'leaves' around the base of the flower.  For the centre of the flower I used a red crystal drape ornament.

Gold and peach Stickles were added and then I misted the flower with marshmallow Tattered Angels and Green Smooch.
I used a quilling tool to roll the leaves.

Monday Crafting Tip ~ Paper Punches

Tip #421  Regarding paper punches.

Be they little punches or edge punches, and no matter HOW tempting it might be,
do NOT
put ANYTHING BUT paper into the punch.  They are meant for paper. They will chew up and/or get really jammed with whatever you stuck in there and then you might wind up spending a LOT of valuable time trying to pry, pull, coax, and swear at the material to come out so your beloved punch can function again.

Oh, I heard all this from 'a friend'. :)

You are welcome:)

UPDATE: 3D flower template designed by ME!

I designed my own 3D flower template tonight  using my Cricut and Sure Cuts a Lot! I can control the size of my petals.
I hand-rolled all of them, but can you tell which is the one I designed?

Designed on the computer using SCAL and printed out with my Cricut.

The Pink flower, centre bottom, is the one I designed.
I made 4 strips and cut them out with my Cricut

Carefully removing the strips
Here are the 4 strips once I peeled them off the mat

One strip glued on top of the other

Slowly peeling the petals back, one by one

I added a third strip using my EKSuccess Punch (the green outside strip).
